Labs

Experiments in seeing the Bible. Each one is a page you can read in any browser. In Chrome on a computer, it opens into a 3D scene you can walk through.

How to see them in 3D

Open the labs in Google Chrome on a computer (Mac, Windows or Linux) and they work as they are: press the big button at the top of the lab, or ~. They use HTML-in-Canvas, a new feature Chrome is testing, and Chrome turns it on for this site.

Safari, Firefox and phones cannot show the 3D views yet. The pages still work there as ordinary pages you can read and scroll.

If the 3D button does not appear, or 3D does not start:

  1. Update Chrome: open chrome://settings/help and let it finish. You need version 148 or newer.
  2. Still nothing, or using Brave, Edge or another Chromium browser? Turn the feature on yourself. Paste chrome://flags/#canvas-draw-element into the address bar (browsers do not allow links to their settings pages), set the highlighted setting to Enabled, and press Relaunch.
  3. On Linux, WebGPU is off by default. Paste chrome://flags/#enable-unsafe-webgpu and set it to Enabled, do the same for chrome://flags/#enable-vulkan, and press Relaunch. On other computers, check chrome://gpu: if WebGPU is not listed as available, your graphics card may not support it yet.

These are experiments. Chrome may change the feature before it ships, so a lab may break for a while. Tell us at hello@carrell.ai if one does.
